geroy80 Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Hello. I am new on this forum. I bought a galaxy couple weeks ago. When I stop the car and keep my foot on a brake pedal the car wants moving forward and keep 'jumping'. But if I pull the handbrake up and release a brake pedal, the car is stop 'jumping' and just stay as normal until I don't push a brake pedal down again. Also, car has a very bad 2nd to 3rd gearchange, it comes out of 2nd and takes far to long to go into 3rd and when it does it goes in very hard with a sharp jolt. Both problems are only when the engine is cold running. I mean I need to drive a few miles (10-15m) and the car start running normally again. Looks like something is need to warm up and the problems away. Can somebody help me what is that should be All other gears changing normally and smoothly all the time. Quote
Jay Dimoff Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Hi There, I have the same problems and I think it's the Vehicle Speed Sensor. I bought the Vgate Scanner VS405 and after scanning the brain it said it's the sensor. Now I'm trying to figure out from where I can order one and replace mine. Some coleagues are saying could be wiring problem around the sensor aswell. A few days ago I changed the gearbox fluid but there is not much difference in the performance. I will keep you updated if i menage to solve the problem. Regards Quote
chromedome Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Get the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) checked/changed, common problem. The ATF needs to be checked at a particular temperature so probably needs to be done by a garage you know and trust. Quote
Jay Dimoff Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 I had mine checked and changed at JEM Service. I'm not sure there are many garages we can trust. Hopefully they did it properly. There is a difference in the performance of the gearbox but the problem still exist unfortunately. Quote
chromedome Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Unfortunately due to the design of the gearbox it retains some of the old ATF. People on the forum have had 2-3 changes done, after a short run, in an attempt to leave good ATF in the gearbox. The ATF going off normally causes late or iffy gear changes when cold. If you are showing a sensor fault try checking the wiring between the box and TCM because this has been known to wear through against the bodywork causing shorts etc. Quote

Steve_Mk1_2.3A Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Clear the codes first then go for a run - you've got some standard "gone wrong" codes there. If a code comes back concentrate on that one. Probably a G68 sensor - try that one first - there are tests you can do in VAG-COM to see it's output signal. MBs then go to grp 5 or 7 and look for the G68 / VSS sensor - it should show "data" when the car is moving. If not then that's probably the reason. All sensors are external bar the oil temp one and are fairly easy to change. HTH Steve Quote
